Besides the classical applications of water supply and power generation, TALIS also offers innovative solutions for special applications and industries – from desalination plants in areas with limited water supplies to complex irrigation systems in order to grow fresh crops and produce in dry areas up to sewage system to keep our cities clean and healthy.
All these installations have very special requirements which require a competent partner with a long experience – like TALIS. Here are just a few examples:
- Particularly for use in large-scale irrigation systems in southern regions, the valves must be robust and simple to use, but at the same time inexpensive and easy to install.
- For use in sewage installations protection against blockage is the order of the day. Smooth and abrasion-resistant surfaces are also required. Particularly in the case of heavily contaminated sewage, great importance is attached to the choice of suitable materials and optimum protection against corrosion.

Bringing water to the farmer – irrigation in Turkey
A pressurized irrigation network which takes water from Atatürk Dam lake was installed in Turkey to irrigate 8,669 ha of land through pressurized sprinkle and drip irrigation systems. The project includes 240 km of pipes with the diameters of 160 to 200 cm, three reservoirs with the total capacity of 435,615m³ and 4,068 m of main canal with a trapezoidal cross section. BELGICAST supplied butterfly valves and gate valves, BAYARD was in charge of air valves. BELGICAST experts also assisted the contractor during the commissioning and on-site-trainings of the end users.
Keeping the capital clean – the sewage system of Berlin
The Berlin water utilities, supplier for more then three million people, operate a modern waste water high-pressure network which is 1,160 km long and designed for a nominal widths range of DN 80 to DN 1600. For the redistribution of the waste water flows and the comprehensive refurbishment of the Berlin waste water grid after the fall of Berlin wall, the 18 km long waste water pressure piping Biesdorf-Waßmannsdorf has been installed since October 2000.
More than half of the route was built 25 m below the surface and the tunnel, today flooded for protection against corrosion, accommodates two 1.2 m dia.
pipes each that run in parallel. On three relevant grid junctions of the piping, eight ERHARD ball valves DN 1000 were mounted which were successfully tested under the extreme conditions before installation.
In the Waßmannsdorf sewage treatment plant, up to 230,000 m³ of waste water is treated daily.
Part of the installation of the Berlin sewage system are ERHARD ball valves DN 1000.
